PROLOGUE
FRIDAY
Programme & Guidelines

The LA REINE Prologue is a mountain time trial to Alp Vordereggli.

The timed section covers 7.5 kilometres and 610 metres of elevation gain. In addition, a 2.5-kilometre neutralised approach leads from the start in the pedestrian zone of Gstaad to the beginning of the timed climb.

Short, steep and uncompromising: the road to Alp Vordereggli is one of the most demanding climbs of the entire weekend. While a shorter section in the middle offers a brief opportunity to recover, the steepest ramps reach gradients of up to 20 percent.

ROUTE

Start: Pedestrian area, Gstaad, in front of Earlybeck

Beginning of Time Measurement: Rübeldorf / Foot of the Climb

Finish: Alp Vordereggli

Neutralised Approach: 2.5 km

Timed Section: 7.5 km / 610 m

The first 2.5 kilometres serve as a warm-up and are not timed. Timing starts automatically when crossing the timing line at the foot of the actual climb.

START PROCEDURE

The Prologue is contested as an individual time trial.

Riders start at one-minute intervals. To ensure that as many participants as possible can enjoy time together at the finish on Alp Vordereggli, riders start according to category:

1) Joy Ride

2) Fun Ride Relaxed

3) Fun Ride Sportive

4) Race

The first participant starts at 10:00.

Please refer to the separate start list. The effective start order does not correspond to the chronological order of bib numbers.

BIB NUMBER COLLECTION

A valid bib number is required to participate in the Prologue.

Bib numbers can either be collected on Thursday according to the official programme or on Friday between 08:30 and 09:45 directly at the Prologue start area.

Participation without a bib number is not possible.

PERSONAL BAG

As the finish is located at approximately 1,650 metres above sea level, we recommend bringing additional clothing for your stay at the finish area.

Between 08:30 and 09:45, participants may hand in a personal bag containing items such as a jacket, shoes or spare clothing at bib number collection. (Please note that participants are responsible for transporting their bags back from Alp Vordereggli. A backpack is therefore recommended.)

The bags will be transported by LA REINE to Alp Vordereggli and can be collected there.

Transport is entirely at the participant's own risk. LA REINE accepts no liability for loss, damage or theft of any items handed in.

CATEGORIES

Joy Ride

Without timing. Without rankings.

The focus is on the experience, the landscape and the shared ride to Alp Vordereggli.

Fun Ride Relaxed

Regularity challenge.

The target time is 1 hour 20 minutes.

The winner is the rider whose finishing time is closest to the target time. Every second above or below the target time counts as a penalty second.

The target time is based on a relaxed climbing pace and is slightly slower than Komoot's estimated riding time for the setting "Moderate".

Fun Ride Sportive

Regularity challenge.

The target time is 1 hour.

The winner is the rider whose finishing time is closest to the target time. Every second above or below the target time counts as a penalty second.

The target time corresponds approximately to Komoot's estimated riding time for the setting "Fast".

Race

Classic mountain time trial.

The result is determined by the actual riding time on the timed section. The fastest rider wins.

AWARDS

The winners of the Fun Ride Relaxed, Fun Ride Sportive and Race categories receive a small commemorative statuette. Each statuette is a unique piece created by regional artist David Aigroz, made from driftwood and scrap metal.

FINISH · ALP VORDEREGGLI

Alp Vordereggli offers one of the most unusual finish areas of the entire weekend.

While other riders continue their ascent, those who have already finished can enjoy the view, regional specialities and the unique atmosphere of this remote alpine location.

Take your time.

Enjoy the moment.

And celebrate the beginning of LA REINE Gstaad together with the other riders.
